Elon Musk buying Twitter was likely fantastic for SpaceX because it led to Musk splitting his focus even more and taking more of a hands off approach to the company which has allowed some of his very talented smart employees to remain focused on the tasks at hand.

A bunch of money, hiring actual smart people and challenging them to solve specific problems is never a bad idea.

Indeed. Gwynne Shotwell doesn't get half the credit in the popular imagination that she deserves.

Musk-haters are fond of saying "it's all his employees"—as if it were trivial to create a personnel system that encourages talent to flourish, rather than miring it in bureaucratic mush (as in most large companies).

That said, Musk himself does participate in the engineering. And his relentless focus on first principles and "the best part is no part" are touchstones for the whole team.
